This painting is in the process of completion. People live in small pieces of land surrounded by paddy fields in Kuttanad. These paddy fields are submerged in water after the paddy is harvested. These fields are below sea level and are protected by a fragile levee system. I need at least 2 more weeks to finish this painting as I will be painting off an on.
There is no difficulty in finding subjects for floral paintings in Kerala. These flowers abound on wayside trees and I plan to paint some of them in the near future.
A sojourn though the waterscapes of Kuttanad inspired me to paint this one. The muddy waters is a challenge but making it clear looking would be ... not doing justice ... I suppose.
How vibrant are the colors that paint nature! If you know how to open your eyes to see the sights that are taken for granted, your wonder will have no end. Some of my future paintings will be inspired by this thought.
